Menstruation

Jan 23, 2023 20:40

That's right folks. Let's get really real. Menstruation is kind of an ugly word, right? Or so it seems because it's associated with something less than pleasant & not beautiful. Oddly enough bleeding out on the monthly is a sign that a woman's body is healthy (at least to a degree). So why do we go hush hush on the topic when it's a good thing? ( Read more... )

I'm not looking forward to teaching Kaya about menstruation in a few years. Not because I don't think she can handle it, but because I know how scary it is - and how much it sucks. There's a HUGE conversation we'll need to have about it and it will be ongoing. Ugh. I want her to be the kid who thought tampons are cat toys for a much, much longer time.

Tampons are cat toys😂 Your daughter's lucky she'll be starting in a time where she'll have a few more options than we had as teenagers. I didn't have diva cups or cute period underwear. That would have made getting my period a little less scary. Be sure you have the conversation. Don't leave it up to her school. When my teacher said we'd get a period once a month, I thought they meant literally we'd drop blood once, one day of the month, then be done. It sounded so easy!

She took one out of the applicator one day and I found her playing with the cat! It was hilarious and adorable. I didn't correct her. I'm fortunate she is in a school that believes in having experts teach age appropriate lessons! But this isn't a lesson I want her to learn from school. I had to learn it from school and my dad, who nearly blushed himself to death. As someone who memorizes things for a living, I could tell he had worked really hard to memorize pamphlets from the doctor's office.

Officially anything with a string is a cat toy LOL. That was really sweet of your dad to make the effort to educate himself so he could educate you. Even if it was mostly repeating memorized lines. He was there for you when a lot of dads would have allowed embarrassment to stop them! Yay!

This is so funny because I just started drinking raspberry leaf tea after seeing someone mention it in a Youtube video. I couldn't help but crack up at the box saying it "tones" your uterus. I never knew my uterus was flabby until now, but I'm excited to see it get buff. But seriously, we do need to normalise conversations around menstruation and I'm going to have to try your tea because it sounds delicious!

If you're enjoying the raspberry leaf tea, I think you'll like the mixture! I didn't know about the toning quality of it, that's funny! Six pack uterus, here we come.

As I guy I can only imagine what women must go through when it's that time of the month again. Thank you so much for speaking up about the subject. I think it's ridiculous that there's still somewhat of a taboo going on about it. It's part of life and nature, nothing weird about that. Since Elle and I love our tea I hope this recipe can help her a bit with the pain when it's that time of the month again. Thank you for sharing, Zazie, and feel better!

Some days having a functioning uterus feels like a punishment. What did I do to deserve this pain! Other times it feels empowering. Yes I'm bleeding AND I'm getting work done! Go me!😁 It's a shame it's taboo because there are women not getting the hygiene products & pain relief they need because nobody wants to talk about it!

I am feeling better! Thank you!

You actually have me wondering if this tea would work for other pain as well.

You also have me wanting to call Julie and tell her "Hey mom, thanks for menstruating". Of course, she'll probably just shake her head at me and wonder where that came from.

It didn't work for my headache, I can tell you that! It would probably work for mild discomfort in your tummy. I've never tried it for anything else!

Aww, your mom would be happy to hear from you no matter what you said!
