CALL ME MADAME - 1 Star

Some musicals hold up over time and some crash and burn.  CALL ME MADAME  by Irving Berlin is one of the latter, even Donald O'Conner could not save this dog.
First unlike other Irving Berlin Musicals it only had two song worth remembering, 2nd it had Ethel Merman who is loud and brassy and an acquired taste.  She was a stage actress and it shows because instead of looking at her co stars she is always looking at the camera. And finally it's a show about a mythical first American female ambassador and in it efforts to be funny ( which it is not). It is vaguely and sometimes straight out insulting.  The only reason it is not zero stars is I just saw CRY BABY and that was the bigger dog.  - 1 star
