Every so often, I would see the remains of a bird in the grass or driveway that looked like it had exploded and figured that a hawk had gotten it. Tonight I looked out my window and there was a hawk on the lawn, tearing apart a bird. I tried to take a picture but when I opened the window to get a better shot, the bird flew away ( Read more... )

Ouch, I always feel for the small birds--but seeing an hawk would be terrific anyway.

The hawk was more interesting than the usual robins that chirp loudly near that window. : )

Lots of rain and thunderstorms today. My sister from California is visiting- we had really good pizza (real Neapolitan style) for lunch. And yesterday we went to Mineral Point, Wi (about 45 min from Madison) which is one of the older towns in the state - settled by Cornish lead miners way back when - so we had pasties and figgyhobbin for lunch.

We also hit a bunch of yarn shops and got some great yarn too.
