Rose Tyler's "Boomtown" scarf

May 18, 2006 11:04

I'm moving this over from my other LJ. It's my version of the scarf Rose wears in "Boomtown". http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/gallery/11gallery/800/13.jpg

I'm using Noro Kochoran on size 8mm needles and 32 stitches but the repeat is 6stitches plus 2 so it depends on how wide you want your scarf ie. 26, 32, 38, 44 etc. My scarf ended up 8 in wide and about 80 in long using 2 skeins of the Noro.

The first 2 rows are purl2,* knit4, purl2* across (you repeat the bits between the stars) then starts the 6 row repeat for the rest of the scarf:

My version of Rose's scarf:

Row 1: purl2, *knit4, purl2*
Row 2: knit2, *purl4, knit2*
Row 3: purl2, *knit 2 together, yarn over twice, SSK, purl2*
Row 4: knit2, *[purl 1,(purl 1, knit 1 in the double yarn over),purl1], knit 2*
Row5: purl2, *knit4, purl2*
Row6: knit2, * purl4,knit2*

Continue for however long you want the scarf. I'll probably go around 5 1/2 to 6 feet - I like long scarves. And end by repeating the first 2 rows. And Rose's has fringe, I think . I didn't add any fringe to mine.
