I saw this on a food blog and it looked so cute. I thought it would make a fun idea for a friend's birthday. I use a vanilla cupcake recipe, coloured some of it pink and spooned it into the jars, then popped them in the oven and they cooked in the jars. No special jars. I couldn't find new jars in shops in the size I wanted so I went to the supermarket and found small jars of Sago on sale really cheap. I put the Sago in another container and washed out the jars!
Glass will only break when there's a sudden change in temperature. In the oven they're warming up gradually. The instructions I followed said to arrange them on a baking tray and put a quarter of an inch of water in the bottom of the tray. I think that also stopped the glass from heating up too fast. Anyway, it wasn't hard at all. The hardest part was finding the right size jars ^^
