Last weekend G and I took a roadtrip to see her mom and They Might Be Giants. At the same time! The last time I had seen G's mom she'd been grumpy (due to some unhappy family stuffs), so I had no idea what to expect this time. Happily, G's mom rocked. She told stories of seeing Led Zeppelin live and frolicking on the beach with Neil Young ( Read more... )

They have a DVD? Did they do Minimum Wage? Did they do the rest of Flood?

Hmm. Yes, I guess "PLAY SOME SLAYER" is my generation's version of "FREE BIRD!!!!!!"

House of Blues in Chicago has Blues downstairs, always. At least always when I was there. Even when the upstairs was doing something odd like, um, well I saw some odd stuff there. I also saw Reel Big Fish there.

Also, not understanding how a building which houses people for any period of time is not a house. That's like saying "a church is not a house because it's a church" and "it's not a house it's an apartment" and "it's not a house it's a duplex." The correct answer to this commentary is "shut the fuck up before I bus a cap in yo ass motherfucker shut the fuck up." Or maybe something less like the movie I saw last night with Ice-T and Ice Cube.

The only hint of bluesy origins this place had was plaster molds of the heads of blues players which were mounted as tiles in the ceiling. Weird. Spooky. The ghosts of blues past watching you eat your overpriced garlic fries.

Corn Mo made the guy who yelled out Free Bird feel as much of a schmuck as possible, going on about how the guy probably thought Corn Mo would never play it. Well he did (not all of it). It was very odd on an accordion.

I went out one night, it was dark, I got eaten by a grue. Alas.

I've just been busy and yet so lazy when it comes to all things LJ. I'll be back, baby. Things are good though, and I will be writing again at some point soon. Hope things have been well in the devi-verse.
