In the dim light of yesterday's "omg money" momentary freak out, I was reminded to calm down, worry less, and remember LOVE. "Worry less, love the world more

Lots of fingers crossed for it to work out for you both. The benefits of HE do rock even if the money isn't that great ... though I really wish I had started 2 years earlier and didn't have the limit of "first bachelor's degree for spouse/dependents". *sigh*
Wow, contracted already, you must be an important person (well, we knew that already). Congrats on that.
This is the earliest I've ever been contacted. I'm guessing it's because Carolyn reads my status updates on facebook and may have gotten afraid I would get another job instead of doing faire... which I can't see ever happening.
And if I could get Erin back in school for even an undergrad education I'll consider myself blessed. She hates school. But she also is starting to understand that it can open doors.
Well, 2 years ago you were pretty burned out at the end of Faire so I can totally understand her concern ... esp. after you survived Don Q's backstage chaos (BTW, I would love to know how you orchestrated some of the backstage stuff).
As for Erin and school, if you can find courses that interest her as a start that might be good. Going back is a challenge even if you don't hate school (I do NOT recommend taking a class that requires Calc. 2 when you haven't looked at Calculus for 20 years ... esp. during Fest season). There are some really cool courses here that don't have a lot of pre-reqs but are just plain neat. Gems & Gemstones was a lot of fun and very interesting even though I am not into jewelry.
Yes.. You're right. I was pretty burnt out two years ago. I suppose I could see your point. But after a year like last year, how could I not come back? Especially now that Erin with the Jezzards. The back stage of Don Q was pretty chaotic. But by mid-run we had it down to such a science that they were able to run a day without me! That's a sign of success in my book. This year's special effects should be just as fun/crazy/interesting, if not more.
Erin's a seamstress. That's part of why I'm very excited about potentially having tuition remission at UMBC because the costume shop supervisor (and professor of all things costume) was my adviser for three years and dear friend. If anyone can make learning interesting to Erin, she can.
