Do you also have troubles finding toothpaste that doesn't make you sick? *sigh* Being sensitive to mint (the entire family) is a drag. If you haven't already, talk to your dentist about having mint-free on your chart (my dentist has a spool of waxed floss for the 3 of us in the practice who do NOT do mint).

It's weird because mint doesn't bother me. But undeluded peppermint oil applied directly to my skin makes my entire nervous system go crazy for an hour or so after it's removed. It's weird. That's why I call it a sensitivity and not an allergy. Cause I LOVE eating or drinking mint... I just don't want it smeared on my skin. Weird, no?

Weird indeed. However, it could still be an allergy, just not a food allergy. For me, if it gets under my skin I get hives. If it gets on my lips/gums I get swelling & blisters. If I swallow it, I am miserable for the next several hours (8 for a single starlight mint) but not having trouble breathing. Fortunately, I can hold mints in my hand (Echo would NOT be happy if I couldn't), I just try to be careful if I have any cuts.

We'll have to switch her to the honey burt's bees. No tingly pepermint, which is why I prefer it !

She's tried it. She gets chapped lips pretty bad and the peppermint makes her feel like it works "better". She uses the others, but all winter it's peppermint. Not as bad in the summer time.
