So, I've been playing Dragon Age II. I think my love interest has turned on me yet again. After the horrible way it went down with Alistair, you'd think that at least Hawke could be happy. But nooooo! Why must every person the game hooks you up with suffer from some sort of horrible angst that prevents a happy ending? I know it's dramatic and all, ( Read more... )

Well, honestly, I thought Merril was kind of a good option in her stuttering, shy, naive sort of way. But seeing how that went down, I'm kinda glad I didn't get with her after all. Besides, I'm kind of a sucker for the idea of her and Isabella. Their dialogue in the background is so cute!

Anders was the easy choice, because he's not that hard to romance. Fenris would have been fine, too, except I boinked Isabella when the option came up so he wouldn't get with me after that. And besides which...he's pretty psycho, too, when all's said and done. I guess I could have done the whole "rival" path, but I wanted everyone to like me. Not sure why, since having high rival points doesn't necessarily mean anything.

But...um...is it weird that I totally wanted to get with Varric? He's soooooo coooool!!

Yeah, see, it's so strange. His character seemed completely different in the DLC than in the second game. He was snarky and kind of a dick, but it was funny, especially his comments with the dwarf. I guess I understand that merging with Justice changed him, but from a story standpoint, it seemed a complete reversal of character. At the end, I stayed with him, not because I, the player, felt it was justified. I only did it because I didn't want Hawke to END UP ALONE. Though really, I should have told him, "Uh, you killed all those people just to break a stalemate. And you expect me to just forgive that? We are so through."
