a puzzling dream

Sunday night before last, getting some sleep after Mystery Hunt wrapped up, I had an odd dream. In it, we were substituting a "bring something to HQ"-type puzzle for something in an early round (we'd never be posting puzzles after the Hunt had already started, of course, that's how I knew I had to be dreaming

I know I'd feel like a real tool if I backsolved it... it would be even worse than backsolving a "bring us food" puzzle.

Even if the cause is good (which it obviously is), it still smacks of "you have to buy the answer", which I don't like at all.

Plus, I just generally don't like being strong-armed to give to specific charities, since I've already decided where I prefer my charitable monies to go.

Rebecca suggested to me (a couple weeks before the Hunt) that if we were looking for extra puzzles in case some didn't come through (silly, I know!), perhaps a "bring us food" puzzle that required bringing canned food would work, and the cans could then be donated to a food drive after the Hunt.

Have you been talking to her behind my back again?

I wouldn't recommend actually doing it, but it's a neat concept. Also, "Reality Check" is a great name.
