i'm thinking about doing this 3 day novel writing contest. basically, you write a novel over the long weekend. matthew said he'd be ok with me being at my studio for the whole weekend. i'd come home to sleep. i'm wondering if i have the stamina.

*hehe* I've done NaNoWriMo, but never the three-day novel writing contest. Are there length goals? NaNo has always been fun, and not hugely demanding. I usually finish in about fifteen days (but typically with a couple of days where I write nothing, winding me up done on day 17-20), clocking in just over the 50,000 word requirement. That's with writing about 2-3 hours a day maximum. The long-weekend one seems like it could be a lot of fun. :) I don't know when I'd find a long weekend when I didn't have umpteen family or other commitments, though. :(

yeah, i signed up for nanowrimo last year but it was too long of a committment for me, a whole month. i quit before i started. i think i could actually do it if i was able to spend a few days solid doing it. there's no length requirment for this one. they say most people write between 90 and 150 pages in 3 days.
they kind of talk about how if you're going to be able to do it, you need supportive people, ie everyone agrees not to contact you during that time. i mean really, there's 365 days in a year, 3 days out of that, even for a long weekend won't really be that hard for people to give some space. (in theory)
it takes place over the labour day weekend so it's coming up soon!
here's a url for more info
there's also a registration fee
