Fall on the farm

The agrarian landscape has sunk into my genes.  I often take it for granted that other people see what I see, that my home is their home.  But that is not true.  This is a special time of year to be at home.  I may not have the mountains or the oceans, the hills or the hollers.  But I am able to take in the golden wheat, the burnt umber bean fields ( Read more... )

It's a township hall. Where a rural township got the funds for such a nice building, I don't know! Most of the town halls around here are simple one-room affairs, built in decades long past.

That is true. And apples! So many delicious things. I've been adding toasted pecans to everything I can get my hands on lately! Baked apples with toasted pecans, pumpkin bread with toasted pecans, toasted pecans with toasted pecans.

What yummy fall things are y'all eating up thar?

Apples! We have visited two separate orchards in the past two weeks. I wonder if apple growers ever get tired of their own products? It hardly seems possible.

And I will take pumpkin in just about anything. My affection for pumpkin borders on worship. I tell you, that Linus was onto something.
