Love this post.

Also the picture. We don't get any large migratory birds through here. I remember seeing geese when I was a little girl and we lived in Idaho.

Thank you. It's interesting, isn't it, how much we can still be shaped by our respective natural environments. If I didn't have honking geese and calling cranes to mark the seasons, I would feel all out of sorts.

Great quote and image, very compelling! We get mostly Canada and some Snow Geese migrating over, love to see and hear them. We've had a pair of nesting Sandhill Cranes north of here, successfully breeding each year for a few years, which is promising. Would LOVE to see mass amounts of cranes some day, such beautiful birds.

Oh yes, I love seeing the cranes, too. They look and sound like such an ancient species. It serves as some comfort to think of them taking the same journey for thousands of years.
