This was fun. My partner is a programmer from France, and he’s often worked in Silicon Valley too. Even today, he mentioned some coworkers wanting to meet me and I asked if they spoke English. He reminded me that everyone at his French company is required to speak English, that’s the norm in the programming community.

This could be MY life, though I've never been to our company's Bangalore office. But the tools across the profession are really similar, and yes-- the programming code itself is in English, which means you need the English-language keyboard, so the comments are in English too. When there ARE comments.

Which is a problem among programmers in ALL cultures. ;)
