Yep, still mired in weeaboo shit, unfortunately. (Omg, I read fucking DOUJINSHI last night. KakaIru, ShunUki, and fucking KAKUHIDA doujinshi.) (My saving grace is I've also been keeping up on my McHanzo and Reaper76 fanfiction, and even playing some Overwatch, so I'm not complete weeb trash.)
I've been coping with the loss of Ukitake, slowly, because, again, the Bleach fandom is basically dead, and so I haven't found a lot of discussions about his death, discussions that usually help me process character deaths and eventually move on (or at least find an outlet). But there's hardly any fanfiction or fan art, not even genfic (as in, non-ship/romance), which is, frankly, ASTOUNDING. (I mean, there's not even fic dealing with Kira's death/return-with-a-hole-in-his-chest, and Kira's fairly (I use this term loosely) popular in the fandom.) Though, thankfully, just today, I found some Ukitake talk on some Tumblr blogs, so there's that.
But the lack of emotional closure got me thinking about other characters I love and how they didn't even get narrative closure from what I've been able to dig up (i.e. find on Bleach's wiki site). Characters like Kira Izuru, Urahara Kisuke, Grimmjow, and many, many others that I can't remember and don't feel like looking up, are left without endings. Literally. Before the 10 Years Later epilogue, they're in battles whose endings and aftermaths we don't see. The battles are told through the common storytelling technique of "jump around from scene to scene to show all the different battles going on," but instead of finishing up each fight, the story just never goes back to those fights. Ever. They're just left hanging. You don't even see those characters crop up in the epilogue. They now exist in Schrodinger's Box, never truly knowing whether they're alive or not, and it's FRUSTRATING. And there's no excuse for us not knowing because the manga officially ended ALMOST SEVEN MONTHS AGO.
GET ON THAT SHIT, TITE KUBO, STFG.
