Last time I visited both coffee and food were truly awful. I for one won't miss either of those, but I will certainly miss that environment. Still whiling away there was impossible because even the upper floor was really crowded, this on a Saturday afternoon. That has not been the case always, maybe people suddenly started missing the place.
MG Road had already lost its earlier character and charm when trees and the promenade on the other side were gone, Plaza shut down, Symphony chose the renovation way, Premier's reportedly imminent demise (been hearing of this for a few years now)... I find it acceptable that old is replaced by new, on the other hand I must also admit that the bourgeoisie nature of the new is a put-offer. Soon not many people will be able to afford to hang about in MG Road. That is sad, but "the other" Bangalore will continue to harbour many best-kept secrets... like this neighbourhood place where they serve truly heavenly Kumbakonam dosa/vada/idli. :-)
