So, I did it. I made my beautiful wife a birthday cake way more complicated than any I'd ever attempted before. As is typical in artistic endeavors, my ambition exceeded my ability, but I can largely blame a very soft icing recipe for that. I maintain that a firmer icing would have made this a 100% success. Even so, she loved it, and other folks
