Con-crit Post - Haute Allure

Feb 19, 2014 15:43

My do-me-veela fic posted this morning. :D

I was inspired by firethesound's constructive criticism post that she did at the end of All Our Secrets Laid Bare. I know fests are special and not really the place for less-than-positive feedback about fics, but I'd like to know if there are areas where I can improve for the next fic ( Read more... )

This is going to be a totally useless comment, because I totally loved that fic. Can't think of a single thing I didn't like about it. It's just perfect! In fact it jumped straight into a spot on my favourites list (I don't have one officially, but the one in my head). It's funny, hot, sexy, interesting and all things fabulous :D

Also, your icon!!! Those shoes are so pretty o.O *grabs them and runs away*
(Although I would probably look like an idiot trying to walk in those insane heels.)

There's a trick to walking in heels. Point your toes, basically. It makes it so much easier and it looks chic. It also helps to get good shoes. Platform shoes are easier to walk in because the extra height gives cushion. I am not good enough to do one of those races in heels, though, and I definitely am amazed by those women!

Yes, I am working on it ;) My tallest pair is about 4'' I think, and I invested a bit in them so they're surprisingly comfy. (Sadly I don't have that many occations to use them.) But I think more than that would be pushing it. Plus I'd be taller than bf and I'm not sure he would appreciate that XD

Definitely amazing those women!

Gosh, I love everything about this fic. I am actually envious that I didn't write this fic because fashion and HP are both highly relevant to my interests, yet it never occurred to me to meld them together. It's an odd feeling, envy. But it's probably for the best because until you made it happen, it sounded implausible. Whereas you took a kooky premise and made it a stunning reality punctuated with hilarity and poignancy. The twist with male Veela was a pleasant surprise on the handling of this trope ( ... )

omgosh, thank you! I am so excited to be friends because let's talk fashion week?

I am so glad you got the references! I was afraid everyone would hate it because the fashion industry is sometimes...questionable. Cara Delevingne, yessss. Are her eyebrows not the most stunning things in the world?

You should totally write a fashion industry fic! I would read the hell out of it.

Lady, I will talk FW with you whenever! Though I've been tuning out MFW a bit because I need a quick break between London and Paris. Are you on tumblr by any chance?

I love all the references. Sarah Burton had me wondering if she was a Muggle, witch, or Squib. My bet is on Muggle, even though her talents are magic of another kind. And then I started wondering about all the other people in fashion and whether they were from the wizarding world. Lagerfeld is a wizard, for sure. All that energy and quirkiness. I know he uses a Time Turner.

Cara can do no wrong in my eyes, so everything about her is amazing, particularly her spirit. You know who is pretty much a younger Narcissa? Nastya Kusakina. See exhibits A, B, C, and D.

You will be the first I tell should I ever write fashion fic! <3
