Love triangle---aka a horrible way to extend a shoujo manga

Actually there's a similarity in Shonen and Shoujo manga. When a manga needs to get extended beyond its life, why don't you go ahead and add a rival? =^___ ( Read more... )

AHHH. I totally agree! Modern shoujo manga portrays wildly unhealthy relationships, and it's terrible! How can girls really think that that counts as true, undying love? D: I especially hate it when the boys treat her like some object ("I won't let you have her,") and she thinks it's romantic.

I think the best shoujo manga I've read is Honey and Clover.
There aren't any love triangles...just a bunch of unrequited love.

Marmalade Boy is the epitome of boyfriend-girlfriend switching, lmao.
(but I still liked it regardless;;; )

Actually Marmalade Boy isn't the kind of shoujo manga I'm talking about. Technically, there's no real rival in the story. We already know who the heroine going to end up with. It was pretty straight forward.

The recent shoujo manga made it harder for us to guess who the heroine will end up to. While it does add suspense, it also annoys me to no end. The heroine will never be able to decide which guy is more important. When she is together with A, she will be like "I love you A." When she is with B..."I love you B". This isn't shoujo manga. This is reverse harem. lololol!

The atrocious Vampire Knight and several other shoujo manga that I read in Chinese (Don't know the title in Japanese)

To be honest, I don't know what on earth I was reading. I read lots of shoujo manga lately to get inspiration for my games, but to be honest...they are not exactly what I call the best kind of inspiration. Orz
