I just got an e-mail stating I am eligible for a phone upgrade with $100 rebate... depending on my finances, I think I'll do this soon.  I can get either the Droid X or the Droid 2 for the same price... I just need to see which would be best for me.  The X has an optional expanded, longer lasting battery, Android 2.1 operating system, 16GB picture/ ( Read more... )

Gotta say pick which one you want, but remember memory cards can be replaced at a later time, it's a standard micro SDHC card isn't it?... and there might be an after market extended battery kit for for the Droid 2 ... not sure; gotta check.

Personally the better speed and improved usability of 2.2 is appealing to me, so I'd go for that.
But thats just my opinion, hence why I have the nexus xD

Speaking as someone who has the original Droid. I'd say go with the Droid 2. If you have larger fingers like I do, the Droid 2's physical keyboard is better than the screen keyboard on the X.

The Droid X acctually has the Froyo OS on it now, it should come with an automatic update when you get the phone, or you can force the update. Also my Droid 1 came with a 16gb Micro SD card with it when I bought it.

Not to mention, the acctual Droid X is HUGE (it wouldn't fit in any of my pockets when I tried the phone at the store). The dimentions of the droid x at abotu 5 inches by 2.5 inches. The droid 1/2 is about 4.5 inches by 2.4 inches.

BTW, I know KP has the Droid 1 like I do... it's possible to special order the Droid 2's battery and cover and use them on the Droid 1, and thereby get the longer battery life of the Droid 2> http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-accessories/69538-droid-1-2-extended-battery-6.html

Depends on your preference for keyboard or not. Both really good phones. The X would be my preference, cause I have a thing for huge screens. The enormous screen real estate becomes something you really have to have when you're browsing the web and stuff, makes it so much easier to see everything. Plus the X has 3 microphones, 2 antennas, and a partridge in a pear tree.

And as Cactusjack stated, it has been upgraded to 2.2, so that is not a factor between the two devices. Your new phone will either come with it already installed, or it will pop up as an update shortly after activating the device.

My advice: Go to a Verizon store and play with them. They'll be glad to let you touch and use the phones, and you'll get a good feel if the touchscreen keyboards are something you can handle.
