I kind of had the same reaction. Like... are we really focusing on the right thing here? Because I'd guess most pet "owners" like animals and love their pets and ... I don't know what I'm really trying to say here, except that it just seems weird and wtf to me.

Also, uh, I bought my cats. I consider myself their owner. But I also call myself their mommy, because I am ridiculous like that. I don't think calling myself their "guardian" is going to make me love them more or treat them better.

See, that's my thought exactly. I bought my horses. I had Izzy dropped on my doorstep and I adopted (which involved money) Mitch. Saying that I'm a "guardian" implies that it's not a permanent situation, but rather a temporary one until my "kids" are grown up and ready to go out on their own. Owner has more permanent sound to it.

Besides, they're my family, too, and I'm their "mom", as you said. Next thing you know these people are going to be saying that calling ourselves owners is like saying our pets are our slaves. I'd LOVE it if my cats would clean my house for me. XD

Hahaha, omg. Yes. I'm imagining my cats trying to clean my house now. XD They certainly ~help~ me with my paper towels and toilet paper!

(I have this really cute bookmark of cats being obviously obnoxious, and it just says, "Cats like to help." SO TRUE.)

I've been very fortunant in the tiolet paper and paper towels department. Mitch, however, LOVES to, er, take out the trash. He's totally part dog, I swear.

(Bahahahaha, that's awesome!)

Those were my thoughts, too. It's just a word. It doesn't change the care the animal receives, no matter what you call the person who takes care of it. If someone wants to be a pet "guardian", they can go knock themselves out. : P As long as the animal is well-treated, they can call themselves a pet representative for all I care.

Exactly! It's just insane as far as political correctness goes. Next thing you know, they're not going to be "animals" but instead "furry, four legged people". Which they already are, but still.
