But more seriously, it is odd how something like that can spread across cultural lines, apparently without their realizing that it's unappreciated and working against any interest they might have.
If it makes you feel better about it, although skin color/ethnicity may be arbitrary, but culture *is* defined by actions, so they are separate things. I think there's some justification if you have a complaint against a culture, particularly if it stems from actual experience and not just media portrayal or word of mouth.
For instance, if a certain culture supports stubborn ignorance and arrogance, like say, republicans, and I meet someone who claims to be a republican supporter, then they are pretty much summing up their own mindset for me, and I feel justified in assuming they are correct in their own summation of themselves. (of course, they probably just wouldn't describe it quite the same way ;)

I love you, Ethan. I love that you worked that Republican thing in, since I am also really annoyed, frustrated, and angry at the Republican party. True, I am that with the Democrat party too, but not so much, since I support their ideals and am mostly pissed off because we don't have any strong candidates to run for president in 2008.
I know it can be a cultural thing, but it still bothers me that I think negatively about them. I mean I don't theoretically, but I do get apprehensive when I have to walk by a hispanic guy on the street. :( Maybe it's just the way they look/dress though because I doubt I would feel that way if some well dressed hispanic was on the street... I hope.
Sorry about the date. I was going to send you an email today and ask. Oh well, you weren't really looking forward to it anyway, right? There is talk of going Salsa dancing again Friday, but I doubt that I would be able to go this time, as I have to be up insanely early for a Saturday.

Sorry about your toe and sending you to the Bus Metro entrance. Did I get Cathy all bloody also? Because I mostly danced with her.
BTW - if it makes you feel better - my Saturday date went as expected :(
Well lets do the Salsa thing again sometime! Hopefully I'll see you on Wednesday volleyball.
