In Which I Do A Meme: First Sentences

Because I haven't written twenty-one fics, I'll just do the ones I have. ^^;
1.) There once was a kingdom, as there so often is in these sorts of tales, and where there is a kingdom there is also a king and queen.
2.) The sun was shining, the sky was blue, and Bill was totally happy.
3.) For all her life, Liechtenstein has been surrounded by adults.
4.) Dear Sir or Madam, If you are reading this, you are now the Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany.
5.) It is said that there was once a woman who lived in a village where the winters were long and lonely.
6.) Peter's cough was still keeping him awake, so he was watching anime in bed when his Uncle Matthias came in.
7.) In a dark, damp prison cell, two women were waiting.
8.) The World Meetings of the Nations had been going on for decades at least, and never once had one gone peacefully or orderly.
9.) In an elegant private room in Paris, Francis Bonnefoy leaned back in his chair and took a sip of wine from his glass.

Conclusions
- I really favor short, snappy opening sentences meant to catch the reader's attention. Especially with 7, 10, and 13, I doubt anyone can tell much of what the fic's about, or even what fandom it's for.
- I don't drabble in many different fandoms. I just set up shop in one and write a lot of fics for it. 1 is a Legend of Zelda fic, 2 and 7 are for That Guy With the Glasses, and all the rest are for Axis Powers Hetalia (with 6 also being a crossover with The Princess Bride).
- I don't consider putting fics on my ff.net account unless they're done. So that's why there are less than twenty-one.
- I do a lot of Kink Meme and event writing. 3, 4, 5, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 14 are all from the Hetalia kink meme. 1 was for Femgen, several years back. 12 was for last year's Hetalia Holiday Exchange.
- I seriously favor third-person past-tense narrative.
- There is little to no romance in my fics. The focus is usually more on camaraderie in an adventure.
