A mountain that is no mountain

Jul 26, 2009 22:29

A lone figure walks slowly across the grounds of Hyrule Castle, finally stopping near the inner gate and taking a seat on a rock, setting his pack beside him. He's seen buildings before; he's even seen stone ones -- though the stone structures he's more familiar with are less made of stone and more carved from stone. Gorons live in their caves, ( Read more... )

[Giggles from behind the nearby tree]

You have traveled far.

He glances towards the tree, seeing nothing.

"I have. I've traveled quite far indeed."

[Skull Kid peeks carefully around the tree before leaving his cover.]

Through even time?

[His head cocks to the side as he eyes the man suspiciously. A grin forms on the corners of his crooked mouth.]

[ooc!: I was just wondering if Lucien was mentioned in the game or manga(or perhaps both)? Also, I am such a n00b at RPing, this being my first thread.]

A child. This seems like an odd place for a lone child.

"No, I've never traveled through time. Or if I have, no one has told me." He watches the boy for a moment. "Are you lost?"

[ooc: Ah, well... Lucien is my idea of what the Fierce Deity would be like before he became the god. So, he's not really in the manga/game as I'm playing him. XD; I can try to answer questions if you have any, though. And welcome aboard. :3]

[Well, now that you mention it, there is a young man sitting sullenly on a bench nearby. There are green grass and flowers growing cheerfully all around him, as he is sitting in a shady patch of garden, but he seems unmoved by the cheerfulness of nature. His mood is, in fact, quite black.]

What, the castle?

It seems he isn't as attentive as he thought he was, but no matter. He shifts on his rock so he can face the young man. Castle -- so that is what this building is called. Strange word, that.

"So this is a castle? What use could something so massive and heavy possibly have?" He pauses, looking over the young man. "Do you live here?"

"Of course not," he sneers. "I'm here to see the King of Hyrule. He invited me, but apparently the bastard decided to go for a hunt instead. I haven't seen anyone except for you, and you don't look like one of his servants. If he thinks I'll forgive him for this, he's a complete fool."

"I serve no one," he says, almost automatically. "Though if you came expecting people, you may have come to the wrong place. I've seen perhaps two or three people since I arrived at the lake." He shrugs nonchalantly. "Have you checked inside?"

Since an unexpected run-in with the King of Evil himself, the grounds have been Sheik's limit on exploration as well. Still, old habits die hard, and he cannot help his feet from occasionally returning. Hidden from sight atop the gate (another habit), he watches the young man below watch the castle, wondering what about it has him so interested. Then again, his appearance is not of anyone he has seen - an oddity in a Hyrule full of replicas.

The words cause him to blink in surprise, looking back to the castle and down again. After a moment's consideration he quietly pulls out a stick of charcoal and a slip of paper from beneath his wrist guard. A quick note later and he folds the paper into a small glider, sending it cruising down below.

'Hyrule Castle was built to hold and protect the rulers and royal family of this land.
I would respectfully dissuade your entering now, as many monsters have taken residence in the absence of guards.'

He sees the motion out of the corner of his eye and snaps his head towards it. No, it can't be a weapon, so what is it? He catches it and carefully unfolds it, peering at the strange shapes on it. Writing; it's some kind of message.

He turns around, looking for any sign of a person.

"I know you're there, whoever you are. Are you friend or foe?"

It is with a silent sigh that he tucks the writing tools away. It had been worth a try, long shot though it was. Unfortunately, he now had no method of answering the question.

Calling for his lyre, he plays a soft arpeggio in what he hopes is a peaceful greeting before standing and walking to the edge of the gate in the other's line of view. He drops a half-bow, but waits for a reaction before moving farther.

ooc: I'm sorry this is late.

He turns towards the music, finally seeing the other person. It isn't much help; he can't tell if the other poses a threat or not. Still, there is at least the fact that he isn't being attacked. There's the note as well; someone who meant him ill would hardly send him a message.

He takes a step towards the gate, spreading his arms wide, palms facing the sky, to show that he isn't armed.
