I was (and am) so disappointed that amendment 1 passed in NC yesterday, but I am very happy that today President Obama is saying he personally supports marriage equality (he also went on record in mid-March as opposing the amendment

It always seems like steps forward, steps back. The night Obama was elected, my state voted in a similar amendment to the NC one. I was crying a lot and I didn't know if it was for sadness or joy. (It was both.)

I'm so glad for the steps forward, though. It encourages me that if I live long enough, the forward is going to surpass the back.
