Well, it's great to have an emotional tragic story to pull from when you need it.
But what I didn't add to this story, because I couldn't figure out how to fit it in was the Linda factor.
God bless Linda.
When I eventually made my way back to school after dad died. Linda had asked me what happened. I told her about how dad had wanted to get some breakfast and Linda set the scenario "so he was reaching for the English muffins when it happened... must... have... Thomas's!" His dying words.
And we laughed and laughed and laughed about this. It was so damn funny. When I told Beth about it we laughed ourselves into tear. So being the bread isle was somewhat fitting and I even remember having put the english muffins in my basket in loving memory of dad who did enjoy a nice English Muffin from time to time. So it was little bit funny.
I just recall that your dad was awesome and I felt totally helpless to be of help to you when it happened because it was outside my scope of reality... and I still sort of feel that way now.
Totally off topic... I have Easter treats for you... are you coming over tonight?
Yeah, dad was incredibly sweet, and generous, loving and kind and he had a wicked and morbid sense of humor, he was quick witted, and quick to laugh at himself. He laughed loudly and often. And pretty much anyone who met him remembered that he was a great guy.
And I remember when Katie's dad died 5 years earlier I had felt the same helplessness. Of course since I was 16 at the time, I said some horrible things to her. It was complicated.
But you were awesome. I remember walking down to Coply with you and talking all about it and you were a good friend and lent a sympathetic ear, which was the best thing you could do.
Ooo Easter treats! I'll be there! When should I come?
