Day 26 - Your week, in great detail
Let’s see the week started with a trip to my Grandfather’s house and two small but nagging fights. The first was about the best way to hook up a DVD player, really old (the audio is mono,,, just a hint how old it is) and signal box to a TV with only a coaxial connection and one RCA connection. And when I suggested he use the coaxial to hook up the VCR he gave me a misguided lecture about sound, video and how his current configuration works. This was resolved by my saying I’d look on line for a switch and moved on to my next fight. Which was scanning some of his collection of hundreds of family photos. He wants to divvy them up and give them to his four kids. He thinks they should be divided first, I think they should be scanned and he thinks they should be divided first. I started scanning and got through about a 43 scans which turned out to be about a hundred fifty photos. For hours I went through my pictures, rotating, cropping and labeling them. Hours and hours were spent doing this. Over days and days.
I bought some fabric and freezer paper and started printing on fabric, But I failed to buy a good fixative, so I wasn’t terribly impressed with my results. I’ll think about doing more of that this week. This has encouraged me to think more about fabric design. But not enough to figure out anything to do with fabric design.
I went to yoga on Tuesday where I laughed my way though yet another class.
I applied for a bunch of jobs but haven’t heard anything form anyone. I think they were all fake. This is a repeated exercise in futility.
I dealt with my taxes and worked on my illustration Friday stuff which I’m still something like 4 or 5 drawings behind on. I hate that I let that slide but I’m determined to catch up.
On Thursday I had another yoga class which was fantastic but I talked about yesterday.
Friday, I went into Worcester for Taco Night at my mom’s which was in honor of my Cousin Ryan’s 10th birthday. It was a fun night full of margarita’s, games, cake, tacos and family secrets. I also found that I’m no longer in my sister’s inner circle. This was not surprising but still pained me. Rumors blossomed into stories and as fun as it was… I’m left with an uneasy feeling. More wedding plans were discussed and so help me god I don’t think I’m going to survive this affair.
Saturday I was hangover, from the booze, from the secrets, and from that unease about the wedding. But I had to race back to Boston to participate in two Iyengar mock assessments. I love doing mock assessments, they are fast paced yoga classes, when the teachers are about to progress to their next level in the Iyengar system. The stress is palatable during these and as a student it’s hard to not automatically correct yourself before the teacher tell you how to correct. But they are fun.
Lindsay gave me a ride home, which was nice. We talked about participating in the Iyengar community, community in general, I think we might be heading towards an actual friendship… which would be nice. I could use a new friend.
And then if was back to Worcester because tomorrow I head back to the lion’s den and get to fight a bit more with my 94 year old Grandfather. I ordered him a switch box for his TV and bought a cable for his mono VCR to appease him. We’ll see how this goes. And I want to scan some more pictures.
And that is my week in detail. I think I need to get a life.
