boredom

I'm currently at work, bored out of my mind. This whole UROP thing would be awesome if only people would show up and give me something to do! Plus the AC is out *again*, although it's not as hot this time as it was last time it was out. I think I'll start bringing in books from tomorrow -- I'm currently rereading Godel, Escher, Bach (stupid work ( Read more... )

Hey, we should start a "bored-at-my-summer-job-but-it's-a-hell-of-a-lot-better-than-being-in-Brookfield" club!

Yes, and we should have meetings at your apartment because I haven't seen it yet. =)

My job's awesome, it just tends to have downtime of a couple hours inbetween things. But I've got a nice little out of the way cube and a computer to roam and so it's all good *nodnod*

And we have air conditioning. No windows. I have no idea what the weather is outside O_o

Yay! I'm glad you like it. If only my job were as cool as yours (in both senses of the word)!

I LOVED Gatsby when I read it in school. I thought the plot was only mildly interesting, but the language more than makes up for it in my mind.

Sorry UROP people aren't giving you things to do. Hopefully the AC is fixed soon.

and python...*shudders* you're a stronger woman than I.

heh, python is just for when I've exhausted all parts of the Internet that are actually interesting AND I can't leave work to get a book for some reason. I still haven't actually learned much python. ^^;;

I think the problem I had with Gatsby is that it isn't This Side of Paradise. I really love that book, so when I picked up Gatsby I was expecting something similar. So I suppose the language and the ending and so on are actually quite good, but just not what I was expecting at all, because they're so different from Paradise. Which is why I have to read Gatsby again.
