I recently acquired a Schimmel, it's black, it's shiny. It is a console, a beautiful instrument. A real upgrade over what I had. I never knew about Schimmel until several years back. I was teaching music at a private school and they ended up buying me one. It was "love at first play." hahaha. The one I just bought had a previous owner who never played it and I ended up purchasing it for far, far less than it was worth. The woman almost gave it away to me. I've only had it about two months now.
I sing primarily, but my first degree in music was in piano. Ever since I got the Schimmel, I have been playing again for my own pleasure which is great. It's interesting- the piano speaks to the introverted part of me some how-- I find it extremely healing to play. Singing is also healing, but it's much more extroverted. Both completely different experiences.
I'll answer your comment from earlier a little later--I'm in between students-- I just couldn't contain myself when I saw your picture!!
I got a Kurzweil for my birthday. Well, really I got it in August but it was for my birthday. Its a really old model that I fell in love with at college (so 15 years ago), I never found another electronic model that had the same action quality. I found this one "by chance" on Ebay after a couple of years of looking.
I am so very rusty, the last time I was playing regularly was at Uni - eight years ago, so I started to run through a couple of books and within about 20 minutes the pain up my arms was unbelievable - I guess I need to get the old tennis ball out and start some grip resistance practise!
I wish I could sing. I can hold a note, but ask me to string them together in a tune and its just AWFUL - LOL! Doesnt stop me from trying though ;)
