The tricky part is in the elimination of the 'impossible'. The temptation is very strong to do away with very possible and very reasonable explanations when one is already pre-disposed (for whatever reasons, be they personal preference or interest) to a specific hypothesis or a leaning to a specific result. So more often than not, you never read of Holmes rushing towards the whole "it's a beastial dog from another dimension, it's just gotta be" but rather with the sadly less-interesting "it's a big dog coated with phosphorus" conclusion. ;_; (Then again, maybe he did get enough dogs-from-other-dimensions when strung out on his famous 7% solution, which may explain his 'quit-overreacting-and-act-like-a-schooled-Army-doctor-Watson' attitude.) :p
( ... )
Is the significance of it that at the moment you turn 35 you'll no longer need Mr. Holmes' wisdom regarding impossibilities? ^^ Or that 2010 is The Year We Make Contact in more ways than one? :)
