Pretty much agree with you there on both series.
I think if they had stuck with the originla three season concept of Lost, it would have been a lot better. Seasons 4 and 5 really didn't add anything and Season 6 finally seemed to offer some form of explanation. I had high hopes and was rather disappointed in the end. I actually liked the character stuff but I also wanted explanations as to why they crashed in the first place, what the island was and how people like Dharma and Whitmore not only knew about it but also had means of getting there and back. Nada. :/

The Ashes to Ashes finale on the other hand was edge of the seat drama. I had to catch up on iplayer as I was out clubbing Friday night which was good for tracking back occasionally. Really satisfying.

Contains spoilers for the LOST finale:

I haven't been watching Ashes to Ashes, and I'm not capable of objectively reflecting on Lost until the awesome wears off (it could be several years). Call it maudlin, call it tacky, but I was so invested in those characters that I wept a couple of invisi-tears to see them finally get what they deserved. You can have no idea how much I wanted Charlie and Claire to be happy. At six years, LOST is one of the longest relationships I've had, and I'm glad it's ended well.

Everything I would want to say about the Lost finale (up until I post my own review) is caught in the comment above by thiefree. Just replace "Charlie and Claire" by "Sawyer and Juliet" and there you have it.
Absolutely loved every minute of the show. :)

It's good to see that some people were not disappointed.

Bear in mind that I said that I did enjoy it, but it's just that rather than leaving me with "That was awesome!" as Ashes to Ashes did, it left me feeling more "Meh!" and ultimately less than satisfied with the way in which they pretended to wrap things up.

OK, found this: http://screenrant.com/lost-finale-explanation-kofi-61464/

It does actually go some way to explaining some of the unanswered questions a little. Still left with a slight "Meh!" and they still can't answer my big question above about what happened with the bomb other than... whatever... it's still a problem.

Surely we already know what happened with the bomb? Miles said it in the season 5 finale: "What if setting off the bomb is what causes the Incident in the first place?" Daniel said it all the way through the season. Whatever happened, happened.
