I just posted a list of items that are largely good things about my job, only to hop over to my friends page and find this. So my condolences, and please, don't think my post was a horrible insensitive reaction to yours. ;)

I'm sorry you have found out about this evil. How did you find these items anyway? Is it a reliable source? Or someone trying to get your goat? There is a difference between friends, and acquaintances. Learn it

Inspired by your song... Day by day, week by week, year by year. It's all the same shit. Sad. Please, stop the Earth! I just want let go! Where is that door into the summer?!
I feel like you do about now- I'm a first-year elementary music teacher and I'm sick and tired of hearing "the veterans" tell me how to do what I do, especially since: 1)I'm the ONLY teacher in this county who is certified to teach music 2)None of them know a damn thing about music 3)Most of them graduated college 20 years or so ago, and a lot has changed since then 4)I teach all 500 of the kids at the school, while they are in a classroom with the same 22 or so every day and 5)The kids act the same for all of us, regardless of theory or method
I also recently overheard my principal (though I swear I wasn't eavesdropping) saying to someone, "Well, she's trying," in regards to my performance. For the above reasons, and also because, as you said, she doesn't know me, I was more than a little upset

I stand in awe at the fact that there's a school that still teaches music. You're a dying breed.
In Elementary schools, at least the ones in Va, there HAS to be music. It's when you get to MS and HS that it just becomes a requirement for "the fine arts" instead of anything specific.
There are actually music SOLs here.
Which, by the way, are evidently written in a language my administrators don't understand.
But the point is, thank you. I appreciate your awe.

I think if one of those kids will come thank you after all your work, that would be worthwhile your effort, but it really hurts being rated like this.
I remember being a kid and hating those music lessons, until my parents decided I need private music lessons. Only then I started to appreciate our music teacher. I'll give you your mantra back: "Chin up". We'll get through this...
