2.)Oppresion of other 'minorities'(ethnicity,religion,race,gender)
3.)Drugs, Legalization and/or tolerance of
4.)Dominant Religon
5.)Population density? (There must be five!)

Ok honestly though....what the hell do you expect from Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Iran, etc. These are all countries where Islam is the law....the religion is the law....People are predominatly Muslim....and for that religion, it is against the law.

What I think is more shocking is the US....where we supposedly have rights and have democracies....and yet it still is banned for two guys or two girls to have any sort of union...except Massachusetts, California, and Vermont or wherever...
I think that is much more unexpected and pathetic.

While I agree that it's pathetic that there aren't at least same-sex unions on the Federal level in the United States, I would say it's much more pathetic and unexpected to KILL people, by law, for being homosexual. That's a little more outrageous than simply not allowing people tax breaks and such.

But I disagree when you say it's unexpected. I would probably guess without knowing that that's how they treat gay people. Hell they cut off your hand if you're caught stealing.
