I have always enjoyed the thought that I am a rock that others will smash themselves against.

(I hate ending a sentence with a preposition.)

Side note: anguish, visceral. Breathing, overjoyed. A cloud in the sky, and I cannot share this...

But then you run the risk of sounding really pretentious.
