I get the sense I already know, but... What did you think of the film, overall?

Cos for me, while moments like this remind me there were some bits I really liked about this film, I feel like I'm the only person who didn't think this was the BEST THING EVARRR, I keep feeling like the lesser things about it are being glossed over in a haze of blind kali-esque pegg love/fandom/squee's.

I might write more about this later. I think the Pegg/Frost combo is one of those that has a strange and perhaps unhealthy relationship with fandom, that can sometimes handicap their own work by too readily trying to please the people that already like them.

Nah, it surprised me by being more, I dunno, 'hungry' and less evident of resting-on-laurels than Shaun of the Dead - in that, I found the obnoxiousness of Frost's character kind of irritating even though I knew it was the point - the relationship between the two was just a little two laddish and beery. Whereas there's something so sweet about Hot Fuzz, the film is so open about the fact that there's this love story going on, and it's not nudge-wink or anything, but it is very open to interpretation...
