Kris/Chanyeol | G | 1479w

inspired by : my parents' meeting yeah.
an : unbeta-ed.

Kris thinks it feels nice. He likes it, enjoying Chanyeol’s companion next to him on the warm bed with intertwined fingers, spending time only to stare at the white ceiling up above them in complete silence.

“ Spring is coming.” He breaks it.

“ I think Jail is pregnant. She looks chubbier these days.” Chanyeol raises both his hands in the air.

“ Do you want to bring her to doctor?”

“ Should we?”

Kris turns his head. A smile listed in top ten of his most treasure thing immediately takes over his vision. He smiles back.

“ C’mon.” He stands up with ease, reaching out his hand to help the other’s gets back on his feet. Chanyeol wraps himself around him for seconds before dragging his feet to the living room and gets Jail in his arms.

They’re putting on their shoes when the phone rings.

“ Let me.” Kris rushes back inside. “ Hello?”

The person from the other line doesn’t directly reply. It takes some moments before finally a broken hello can be heard. Another long pause follows after that.

“ May I know whom am I speaking with?”

The person doesn’t answer. Instead he asks back, “ Can I speak to Park Chanyeol?”

Kris still remembers it clearly as if it only had just happened the day before. Their first meeting was nothing but as cliché as an opening of dramas could be after all.

Autumn was making its way to the scene. The wind was already cold enough to make everyone outside shivers without their jackets on. A man didn’t predict anything about the harsh weather found in front of a bright red small Chinese restaurant only in his t-shirt, rubbing his arms, trying to get himself warmer. He was hesitating. There’re some reasons why a restaurant could be that empty. Not much promotion, bad service, wasn’t worth the price or just simply bad taste.  But to be honest, the man couldn’t care less with the others, he only cared about how much a bowl of noodle would cost. The place wasn’t anything extravagant like the ones he used to visit, instead it’s really plain looking with nothing else but a banner hung above the entrance as its decoration. It hadn’t to be that expensive. Only if his friend didn’t just trick him and take away all his money, he’d be definitely found somewhere else with the finest wine placed on his reserved table.

Too bad his friend did and he’s now left with merely ten thousand won in wallet. He let out a sigh.

RING

The man was welcomed with a waiter rushing towards him and greeted with a loud, very deep voice that didn’t match his baby face at all.

“ WELCOME TO PARK HAPPY FAMILY!” A smile- a pretty good one- appeared across his face, making it looked ten times even brighter, contrast with the gloomy background.

The man didn’t like it. He felt the world was not fair, how a person could be happy over the other’s lost. He barely acknowledged him with a nod and sat on the showed table.

“ What do you want to order, sir?” The waiter asked. The man raised his brows as he couldn’t find any menu although actually all he wanted was still a bowl of simple noodle.

“ Do you have Lamien?”

“ Y-yes?”

“ Do you have Lamien?”

“ Uh, wait for a minute,” the waiter ran upstairs and came back a moment later with another man. They went into the back room the man assumed as kitchen. Something vibrated in his pants pockets distracted his thoughts. His mother called but apparently there’s no signal inside so he walked out. Finishing the call, he entered the restaurant again only to be taken aback by an outburst from the waiter.

“ HOMAIGOSH I THOUGHT YOU’VE LEFT!”

The second the waiter did that, the man immediately knew why the restaurant was so quiet. Biggest possibility so far was : bad service. The waiter obviously had no manner at all.

“ No, there’s no signal here so I went out to answer a call,” he himself wondered why he even bothered to explain.

The waiter beamed again. “ Oh I see, I see.” He bobbed his head and took a seat on next table, taking out his pen and wrote something onto his notepad.

Cool thing was, the silence that fell upon them after that didn’t appear as awkward and the wrong Lomein landed on his table taste heavenly.

Therefore the man decided to visit the restaurant again the next day.

And the following the days too.

On the seventh visit, without he himself realizing, the man had given out his hand and introduced himself. “ I’m Kris.” He said, making the waiter bit dumbfounded, looking at his palm then to the man’s hand before back to his palm. The man took it into his and shook it.

The waiter blinked. “ Eh- Chanyeol. I’m Park Chanyeol. Nice.”

Their first kiss wasn’t really a kiss.

“ How cool!” Chanyeol raised the origami jet fighter above his head. “ How do you make this? Mind to teach me?” He tilted his head.

Kris only shrugged. “ Sure.” He took a new origami and began to fold it deftly. Chanyeol leaned forward so he could see better. He didn’t think it’s as hard as folding a dragon he ever seen on Youtube but needed much concentration nevertheless. He immediately followed Kris, afraid he would forget the steps already. He stopped in the middle all of a sudden though.

“ Wait- I forg-“

His sentence was never been completed. Kris leaned backward, looked just as stunned as him. Their eyes met for split second and Chanyeol even hadn’t had chance to gather all his soul when another peck landed on his lips. Again. Two, three, four more.

He thought he might’ve gone crazy for wanting more.

A flash in his mind was the only thing managed to stop him. He put his hand before his lips all of a sudden hence Kris pecked the back of his hand instead. He instinctively ducked his head, he knew he wouldn’t be able to see him.

“ Sorry.” His voice was barely a whisper.

For the very first time, awkwardness successfully made its way between them.

For the very first time, Kris left without a word.

For the very first time, Kris didn’t came back the next day.

And the following days too.

They met again a week after that, at the quiet street leading towards the restaurant in the middle of the night.

Kris was walking home from a 24/7 convenience store nearby for buying fruits when he spotted a figure in black everything right under the only dying street lamp. Although he’s not a fan of any horror or thriller movies or books nor believe any of those coincidences, somehow he still could feel shivers slid down along his spine. He’s just about to turn his heels quietly, hoping the best that the figure didn’t noticed him or just let him go when a cracked voice heard.

“ Hey.”

He looked around. There’s no one else beside him and the stranger. He merely shook his head, already ready to run when the voice stopped him again.

“ Hey, it’s me.” The second the voice said that, the lamp above him flickered on as if given a cue and Kris felt like a total moron.

It’s Chanyeol. Leaning against the pole, in his usual Bathing Ape hoodie and training pants with hands in pockets. He even flashed him his smile too but it might be the only thing that didn’t appear like the usual. The corner of his lips twitched while usually it’s his eyes. Kris was hesitate on his spot. It’d been long since the last time they met and no need to mention the incident. How he wished he had time machine so he could go back to a week before and prevent himself from doing all that shameless act.

“ He doesn’t come.” Chanyeol said abruptly.

Kris turned his face. “ Who?”

Chanyeol didn’t answer. Instead he pulled his hoodie lower and lower until it covered half of his face, leaving only his shaking grin visible.

That’s the first time Kris knew about someone named Byun Baekhyun’s existence, how dangerous and how important he was to the younger man. Because no matter how hard Kris denied, it wouldn’t change the fact that he’d fallen hard and couldn’t get up, the fact that Park Chanyeol’s now his everything while Byun Baekhyun’s the other’s everything.

Kris thinks the nightmare must have ended after all these years.

“ What? Who?” Chanyeol follows him back inside. Kris’ jaws tightened. He counts until ten by heart, before handing the phone to the curious man. “ Hello?”
