Pop quiz: I am going to Seattle in one week, to see a concert and celebrate my birthday. I have one free day to spend around the city. What should I do? Of note: I do not find people throwing fish through the air terribly entertaining. Apparently all the good veg restaurants are in the "University District", which seems to be Seattle's answer

Jogging today was especially hard, I think partly because of the particulate matter in the air from the fire. We were all dizzy and close to fainting by the end, and mhalachai had to use her puffer more than usual.
J and I enjoyed the Experience Music Project when we were there a few years back. There's a huge amount of information and it takes awhile to navigate tehj whole place. I've heard from others that the unoiversity district is a nice neighbourhood to wander, though I haven't done so myself. Anywyas, it might be worth the effort.
the U district isn't really in the middle of nowhere, it's just on the east side of the I5. it was the most interesting part of seattle when i was there last month. still though, i wouldn't bother going out of your way to find it.. because it's not worth the effort.
there's a veg restaruant near the needle, i can't remember what it's called though. sort of seattle's answer to the budhist veg. if i remember the name, i'll post again.
Nice! Let me know if your remember the name. Three that sound possible are Bamboo Garden, Wholesome Vegetasia, and Teapot Vegetarian House.
The U district is just off I5, but it's also way north of downtown. We are taking the train to Seattle, and will be on foot while we're there, so anywhere out of downtown is kind of out of the way, especially since we only have one day to spend.
ahh. bamboo garden! people in seattle say it's the equivalent to BVR, but it's not as good.. still worth checking out if you're wanting that kind of food though.
and yeah, if you have no car.. then the U disctrict is probably a huge pain to get to.
