We all know that the young hunter would choose to play Leisure Suit Larry...

Seriously, though, as a female gamer who loves first-person-shooters more than any other genre, I have to say that the author's "ideal" game for women,
"an interactive soap opera or bodice ripper," has no appeal for me whatsoever. It's an interesting idea, but I don't think it would fly. I have no patience for violence in other media, but when it comes to video games, I really do enjoy shooting people in the head.

On the other hand, you might say Katamari Damacy is the ultimate "gatherer" game. I wonder if it's as popular with women as it is with men?
