Have you read Neal Stephenson's Baroque Trilogy yet -- Quicksilver, The Confusion and The System of the World? They're about 900 pages each so that should keep you busy for a while, depending on how fast you read. :)

Hah, I was just about to say the same thing! I just started the confusion and my wrists hurt from carrying around quicksilver long enough to finish it.

I've taken to alternating a chapter of baroque with a chapter of a Lois McMaster Bujold / Vorkosigan series book, just because I need an action break after 30 pages of obscure natural philosophers.

Yeah, I read each Baroque trilogy book as they came out. Great stuff.

Bujold's Vorkosigan books are my latest big obsession. They're wonderful, and there's like 10 of them (but not in an annoying Series That Never Ends way; they're more episodes), so it's weeks of bus goodness. I have all but one of 'em if you want to borrow.

Have you read any octavia butler? She's my favourite author. Xenogenesis trilogy or her short story collection Bloodchild are good places to start. Again, library o' brooke can hook you up.

Hmm. Ivan Coyote books of short stories.
