... is the easiest thing in the world. One day of showings, five offers. It will be sold by the end of today.

I guess now we should go find somewhere new to live.

Also: Delano is right, Cockta is pretty great. They sell it at a store near us called "Euro Foods", which I thought meant pretentious French Euro-food, but actually means sketchy ( Read more... )

But not if it's in Surrey-trust me, I know. Surrey is the only place where value decreases-never buy real estate there! Are you buying another condo, or a house?

Good point, I should have added the standard Surrey disclaimer :)

We're buying a condo, most likely in east Van. We can't afford a house, and I don't really want one. It's too much maintenance, and I think houses are impractical in a large city. The only reason I'd want a house is to be able to plant a proper vegetable/herb garden.

It's impossible to buy a house these days-they are so expensive. I did buy a second condo, in Burnaby (it's the HighGate Village development), but it won't be finished until spring of 2006. I managed to get a ridiculous deal on it, and the value has already increased by $50,000 or so!

If you are interested in buying a condo in Burnaby, HighGate Village is awesome!

So are you just looking for an apartment for now, until your condo is finished? Do you own two condos?

We live in Burnaby, we're wanting to buy a place in Vancouver (that's why we're moving), but thanks for the suggestion :)

Yeah, we did really, really well. Let me put it this way: in the last two years (since I bought the place) it has appreciated $80k in value. The numbers seem almost imaginary, I mean, thinking about that value in real terms (ie: how many days of work that represents) makes my head spin.

Real estate is a sick, sick game.
