I got some pictures back here from my recent trip to the beach,
Last Sunday I decided to go on down to Hammocks Beach State Park and camp out on Bear Island. I hadn't been to the beach in a while and they have camp sites right on the beach!
Being the crazy bastard that I am I got my bike with its trailer loaded with the tent, sleeping bag, some food , and misc. Then I set out for the 50 mile ride.
It wasn't a bad ride at all, but all of the extra weight, about 40 lbs., did make the muscles tired, especially when I got home the next day. And I definitely wanted to get home before the tropical storm coming in from the Gulf made it up this far.
The weather was beautiful for both the journey down there and for the ride home. The only run that I had with the weather was over night on Sunday. That night was full of nice loud thunder and much lightening and wind and rain. All of the loud noise and flashing lights was almost enough to trigger a flashback! My tent did manage to survive the night, barely. One end of it did have the stakes pull up. This is why sand is bad for camping at times. But with the design of the tent, just me being stretched out inside with my gear up at the now stakeless head of the tent it managed to weather out the storm just fine, although I had little sleep.
Here is the view of the camp site coming up from the ocean:
And now the view that I had from the tent. The ocean blue:
Now as long as we don't get bitch slapped by a hurricane this year I will be able to go and camp at this beach fairly often.
