THE WORST part of my job is telling potential student worker hires who desperately need a job to help them get through the inane expense of a private college that they were not, in fact, hired. I call them cuz I think sending emails is spineless; it hurts more. The "thank yous" veiling disappointment, the awkward pause before them as it sets in ( Read more... )

I'm coming up on something similar for the first time. Not that I'll be telling anyone that we didn't tell them, that's HR's job (though I will have the choice of making the good news call or letting my boss do it).

No, my problem is that we've got someone in the company looking to transfer to my group and while we haven't interviewed yet, from what I've heard I don't think they're what we're looking for. And they're someone that I see everyday. Not looking forward to that.
