When the Cedar and Paradise fires happened, the WAP revealed a very organized plan in case of wildfire. They evacuate some of the animals, and cage others in the middle of the preserve areas, with shelter, food, water, and nothing burnable within a certain distance on the enclosure. The hope is that, even if the fringes burned, the majority of the animals will make it out in time. I am worried about our wildlife. We've had a ton of birds up here, fleeing, and I don't doubt coyotes and bobcats are passing through. The fire at the base of Mt. Palomar as well, there are going to be a lot of displaced critters

The only homes I would give hearing a damn about are the ones that just got finished rebuilding from the LAST fire, the ones people have waited 3-4 years to move back into and get on with their lives again, only to be chased right back out. I feel sorry for these people, but srsly, I'd rather know that people just made it out.And shelters got smart and let people bring some of their pets unlike last time where they were like 'NO, leave your animals outside; they aren't allowed in here.'
Yeah, and certain animal hospitals are offering free boarding to pets, as well as open secure places for horses (like the Lakeside Rodeo grounds). We've learned and improved since the 2003 fires...it's just still a really bad one.
