Hey I got your message. Indeed I also don't have much going on this weekend. I'll give you a call and we'll figure something out!

Yay for trying the recipe! Hope you try again. I've made 4 loaves thus far, 3 of them just the "shaped ball", one in a loaf pan. The balls have been frustrating to shape, as all I seem to do is stick to the dough, but though they've been irregularly shaped they've basically worked. I keep forgetting to slash the tops of the loaves, so I think that's contributed to the "oddness". I also didn't use nearly enough cornmeal this morning on my parchment paper, so the loaves "stuck" and so I slid them onto the stone parchment paper and all, which worked, but didn't crisp the bottom crust at *all* and the loaves were extra-moist because of it. Still declared "yummy" and "please bring again" by the office, though ( ... )

I can't get mine round either, and despite baking directly on my stone baking sheet, the bottom isn't brown at all. I might try your olive oil idea.

Speaking of stuff to do, any interest in going to a wine tasting in Maplewood Tuesday evening?

How did you like Girl with a Pearl Earring? I absolutely loved it. So I watched the movie and it was pretty good too. You should try some of Tracy Chevalier's other books, I recommend The Virgin Blue and The Lady and the Unicorn.
