We held a cookout and fireworks display at my house, and my friend Cutter came in his Revolutionary uniform with his musket and fired off a few wads (no bullet, just the packing). Let me tell you, the fireworks were nothing compared to that musket when it came to sound. You really got a feel for how terrifying it must have been to stand up against an army of people with those.
It put things in perspective. But we still did the other stuff and enjoyed it.
