i was talking to this guy who lived in austin. (you've probably arlready figured this out but in case you havent) he said it was like----everyone hanging out and doing their art (whatever that was) all the time, and that there you can fairly easily be moderately successful, but beyond that nothing goes anywhere---the people he knows still living there are doing the exact same thing they were doing years ago. he said a good place to live for a year or so.
