Victory of the Daleks - the queen is not amused

So the new episode, what can I say about it? Not much really or perhaps too much.

It did not impress me, at all.

I totally had the squee over the first episode and was sold to Matt Smith's Doctor latest at the moment he stepped through the face of the tenth Doctor and gave his speech. I came to love Amy by the second episode and loved the 'Beast Below' with all its small flaws and plotholes and what have you.

But this episode? Seriously, if Cruci hadn't watched it with me over Skype I would have played Solitaire on my laptop while watching it and constantly looked at my clock to see when it is over. The pacing wasn't good, the plotline didn't seem to be thought through and don't let me get started on plotholes. Seriously to enable the airplanes to fly in space and then get them up to the Dalek ship should have taken hours...but then again the space battle was awesome. Very Star Wars-ish, but awesome. The Force was strong with Danny-Boy.

And then the new Daleks. The white Dalek gave me a shiver at first sight, but then the rest of the Power Rangers followed and I couldn't decide whether to laugh or just be a bit weirded out. So, yes, I don't find the new Daleks threatening. I hope future episodes will redeem that, then again I am growing a bit tired of them. Also, please Moffat, no Daleks for the finale, please!

There were good bits in the episode as well, I liked the professor who was built by the Daleks, I liked Churchill and his relationship with the Doctor, I liked how the Doctor totally lost it over the Daleks.

But all in all? Not an episode I need to see again, it was solid and not the worst episode, but it definitely wasn't impressive. At least for me.

Also, one more small thing. Your oldest enemies? Huh, Doctor? You are not forgetting someone are you? Or did you just put him in another category, now? Let's say oldest friend perhaps. Best enemy and arch-friend? Yes, I am still waiting for some kind of mention that the Master sacrificed himself and saved the Doctor, while getting his revenge, damn it. (EDIT: Also how many times can a joke be repeated that was unfunny the first time it was made.)
