My friend biggerstaff is probably the most kick-ass girl I know. She is my size, and she was just shy of making top recruit when she went through basic.

I went to her ceremony when she got sworn in, and they showed us this Canadian gov. issued video about basic training. I didn't know if I thought it was scary, or hot :-P

At any rate, my friend LOVED basic, took it as a challenge to beat all the boys. I admire her so much for taking on a career in the military, though I don't know that it's something I'd do.

Do you enjoy military style exercise classes i.e. "boot camp"? You could always do one of those retreats where you can pay money for people to scream at you while you run until you die.

Funny how your idea of a cool challenge is my idea of HELL!:)

Eh - I don't know that I would want to do that kind of camp - they just don't call to me the same way.

*chuckles* That seems to work both ways.

From what I've heard from Evan and my brother, who just joined the Navy, the Canadian Forces boot camp is not very professional or effective, but the US (Navy, at least) is pretty efficient, they know what they're doing. FYI

Maybe Evan's just having a really bad time of it too, I dunno.

Hrrrrmmm... I've heard mixed reviews about Canadian training, but then, most military folk that I know are pretty good at complaining :)
The fictional depictions I've encountered are all based on an American model as well, so I'm sure my imagination is quite tinged in that direction.

...
*hug* miss you.
