Do you have a natural aversion to fluorescent lighting? Screaming children? bad elevator muzak?

All facetiousness aside, you could be reacting to the various frequency 'hums' in grocery stores. With the various coolers (that was typoed as collars for a moment - hehehe)and other refridgeration devices, I always find there to be a strangely pitched hum or vibration ... which can occasionally give me a headache.

It's not always just hearing it - that sort of thing has a sort of physical impact as well...

It's probably a mix of the lighting and the aural unpleasantness and general malaise for having to be in that particular space.

I find I get so very tired in a grocery store. It doesn't matter how happy and awake I was when I went in, by the time the groceries are done, I'm completely burned out. I've had times I've left valkryor in the store, and gone out for some air. So yeah, something is up with those places.

Hmmm... it is an odd thing to be bothersome... but it really is...

Curious... does the impact of the grocery store change if you're listening to your music?

Not enough to be noticeable...

Could be genetic - I have an awful time in grocery stores. I can't think straight, feel depressed, and generally unwell. I've thought about it alot and I think it's the lights!! Blame Momcat (and genetics).

If it was _just_ the lights though, you'd think I would see the same effects at work... and I don't, really. But it does sound like it does mostly the same things to you and others, so it's not just some quirk of me-ness.
