Goals! Oh...oh, yeah, I'm on top of that...*crosses fingers behind back*

Map--great idea! Mine is set in a small town eerily similar to the one I grew up in, so I will get a map of it if necessary. :)

Background vs. plot--this happened to me in the only other epic work I've ever done. I had WAY more background than story. I finally put it aside until I could figure out just which story I was actually writing. The good news is, all this history will (should) make it easier to keep going with your real story, once you figure it out. Remember Tolkien had zillions of pages that most people consider to be just "background" to his "real" work, even though he didn't look at it that way.

Names: I like Elysia. There's something called the Elysian Fields, which I am too tired to google for right now. Or you could try this:

and see if it helps out.

It should, yes, but I don't think it is. I think I got the idea for this from a book I read called The Queen of Attolia. I have the entire background laid out, but when I get to the part where I would actually start writing, I kind of draw a blank. All I can really think to do is characterization (because I have a good idea of what I want my main character to be like). This story is going to have a lot of medieval-type war...and little Zero here doesn't know much about battle strategies and so forth. Like I said before, the background sets up the main plot, but I really need a subplot. Any suggestions on how to um...think of one, perhaps?

As for Elysian Fields, I think that's a place in Texas...or something. Heh.

Oh man, only you would know where an all purpose name generator was. Only you. And I'm so thankful for that!

Good luck watching ROTK tonight! And thanks for the help.
